Nabi Bemoans Chiefs’ 4-1 Loss to SuperSport

Kaizer Chiefs coach, Nasreddine Nabi, is far from being in a happy mood following the club’s 4-1 thrashing at the hands of SuperSport United on Tuesday, 18 January.
Playing at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, Gauteng, the Glamour Boys’ descent into an overwhelming defeat began when ex-Chiefs player, Sami Nurkovic, scored for SuperSport in the third minute.
Despite Makabi Lilepo equalising in the 30th minute, the Pretoria-based team responded just two minutes later with a close-range goal from Chiefs’ own Christian Saile, who is currently on loan to Matsatsantsa.
Gamphani Lungu and Siphesihle Ndlovu contributed two more goals in the second half, allowing SuperSport to walk away with a 4-1 victory.
In a post-match interview, Nabi bemoaned that “it was a very difficult game and very painful loss”, before blaming his men’s poor performance on their lack of recovery time between matches.
He said: “There are excuses, because obviously, we only had two days for the players to recover and they played an exceptional match [against Chippa United last Saturday, 15 February], but unfortunately … We can’t give excuses, but there are excuses.
“When the body or the physical is not responding, then everything falls apart like a castle of cards.”
Here’s hoping they can recover in time for their match against Mamelodi Sundowns next Saturday, 1 March.
